Last Friday after school 24 intrepid Scouts from 1st Kyle Valley (Tholthorpe) were on the road to Hawkhirst Scout Centre in Kielder forest for Wintercamp 2020.

The Final Annual meeting of Easingwold Country Market was held last Friday at the George in Easingwold and most members were present. Special mention should be made of Mary Carrington who was there at the beginning when the Market began 38 years ago, joined shortly after by Margaret Jackson and Bunny Wentworth. Muireann, seen here with Sally from MySight York, is blindfolded and being lead through a crowded room as part of a demonstration of how to guide visually impaired people effectively. It is not as easy as it may first seem to guide someone safely if they are blind or partially sighted. You have to be aware of everything around you…

The match started in heavy rain which soon passed over but left the players contending with a very muddy pitch. Strensall proved to be a strong attacking side which pinned Harriers back in their own third for much of the early match. Sammy performed admirably in goals making several good saves. However, Harriers defence were eventually pulled out of position…

Oulston residents took part in their annual effort to work off the Christmas calories by clearing overgrown vegetation on Oulston Bank. On a sparkling morning over a dozen people helped out pruning, raking, sweeping and the worst bit....

Zig the dog has joined the Community library. Zig organized a gig with his owner Kathy Seers, who was in the library in December, talking about her book ‘Keeping Zig’ to an enthusiastic audience. A good time was had by all with Zig enjoying many dog treats during the session.
