“JOY TO THE WORLD!”

We assembled last Wednesday at Easingwold Parish Church to enjoy the annual Boot Shop Carol Service, attended also by many friends, and people from the related “United Response” charity in York.

After the processional carol: “Once in Royal David’s City”, a message of welcome was read by Julia Richardson (Service Manager at The Boot Shop, to whom special thanks are due for facilitating today’s event), noting that this is the Boot Shop 25th anniversary year! Opening prayers were led by Rev. Margaret Young, vicar of Easingwold with Raskelf.

The Boot Shop Drama Group together with friends gave us a series of enactments and readings of the Christmas story: “The Angel Gabriel Visits Mary”, followed later by: “Mary and Joseph Go to Bethlehem”, “The Angels Visit the Shepherds”, “Wise Men from the East” and “Mary’s Gift to the Infant Jesus”, while “Mary’s Boy Child” was sung by Geoffrey Rawlings from York….
