Millfield parkrun Event number 11

We received this nice report from David Lingwood who visited Easingwold last Saturday to take part in Millfield parkrun.
A respectable 137 parkrunners, bright eyed and bushy tailed, flocked to Millfield, on Saturday morning, to get their park run fix for the week. As runners gathered for the usual pre-event briefing, temperatures seemed a little cooler than one would expect for this time of year. With no runners celebrating prominent milestones, attention turned to any first time parkrunners. One raised his hand tentatively and got the traditional round of applause. He was so taken aback he responded by bowing several times! A great reminder of how friendly and supportive the parkrun community is. And with that, we were off.
As a first time visitor to Millfield, it was exciting to see how the course would unfold. What followed was a great journey along grass, watching those sharp bends, some tarmac, gravel paths, woodland and a satisfying straight length alongside a lovely wetland section. Approaching the second lap, the sunshine pierced the clouds and the temperature rose. Notwithstanding a few manageable windy periods, it was a glorious time to run. Finishing at the end and looking on, it was good to see an impressive number of sprint finishes, the competitors no doubt spurred on by the fantastic encouragement of the volunteer team at the finish….
